April 6, 2024 - Briefly, for my second bottle I gave this a splash decant 4+ hours before beginning to drink. It benefitted enormously from this - acidity emerges, the fruit mellows and the whole thing becomes reasonably well-balanced.

The nose has some blue fruit and quite a noticeable herbal note, even some menthol. The palate follows, with nice acidity, and smooth drying tannins which come to the fore on the quite lengthy finish.

Overall after some air (and I suspect it would benefit from even more than I gave it) this is a very decent wine, going well with some fried chicken. But perhaps a bit pricey for what it is at the ~US$25 that I paid.

January 30, 2024 - Well it's interesting to try this, but for me it's too modern/Parkerised to be truly enjoyable. Rather ripe, bordering on sweet, fruit, minimal acidity, smooth tannins appear on the finish.

Maybe this would be better with a load more air (this got about 90 minutes opened but not decanted before drinking). I have one more bottle so I'll try giving it a long decant.

January 27, 2022 - A treat to taste a varietal which is rarely bottled by itself. Opens up nicely and pleasant to drink.

March 26, 2021 - Opened last night. Pretty decent, especially for the Costco price. Rich, fairly ripe, drinking already. 4-12-16-7: 89/100.

March 17, 2021 - Comes out inky and dark with a vibrant violet rim, really rich in the mouth, with all kinds of of red and blue fruits. Fragrant, alluring nose. A lot of texture from the well judged tannins. With a good body, I feel a little tasteful oak, but also quite pure. Not modern, but has a very generous entry. I had a bottle over three days. I liked it best on day one and possibly more on day three. It actually become more integrated and lighten up in a good way, showing more elegance and expressive fruit. This wine is still young, but no harm drinking it today. I think this wine will really sing in about 3-5+ years. Probably will cellar well for 10-15+ years. This is a wine that is probably hard for most to assess when young, but like its stablemate Chateau Belle-Vue, it really comes into fine form after a few years. Definitely worth hiding some away. Issued in a classy wooden six pack. I believe this parcel is near the Margaux appellation and has some beautiful perfumed fruit once aerated. I had a second bottle and was just as pleased. Worth having a six pack on hand to drink young and yet to perhaps snag another case to cellar for a bit. Very unique and outstanding indeed!
