Community Tasting Notes 10

February 23, 2024 - Nose: black fruits, nuts, blackberry jam, hoisin sauce, hints of tar
Notes: certainly very young and completely not ready for consumption. It is a bit difficult to rate this fairly as this is so painstakingly young. You can feel the heat of the vintage towards the end which is quite different to the feeling I got in the beginning. By staying true to myself, and again I must say this is probably due to drinking it too young.
    Drink: 2035+
    Rating: 88?

April 6, 2023 - Still processing this bottle... This is probably the best wine I've ever had. Plenty of joy, the wine was jumping out the glass from the very first moment. Very pure, magic colour, has a sense of noble and aristhocratic character, vibrant, very precise. Best expression of St. Vivant: la Finesse and refinement with an excellent depht. Gorgeous velvet texture, luxurious!!! MAGIC

March 19, 2022 - La Paulee NYC 2022 walkaround tasting
A luxurious and heady nose. Its dark fruit profile is well complimented by the oak, there are vibrant black and red fruits flavors that brim with energy. This is a very dense and tannic RSV wine though, and it will need extended cellaring, probablly fifteen years before its class and inner complexity is revealed. I loved it.

March 12, 2022 - La Paulée de New York Grand Tasting (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY): Walk around tasting. Intense red fruit aromas and flavors, this seemed bright and charming to start, but starts brooding after a few seconds, and structure took over. Still, the potential is obvious. Like most 2018s, this is much more firm and backward vs when tasted from barrel or shortly after bottling, and will require lots of patience, 94-96 point potential, 2028-2058.

January 18, 2020 - PoB - Burgundy 2018 En Primeur (Hong Kong): During an En Primeur walkabout tasting, so only brief impressions. I preferred the 2017 EP wines of Hudelot Noellat to 2018 as they are more elegant. Still the wines were solid here with the Suchots quite dense (92), the Beauxmonts a bit lighter (93). Finally the RSV was also dense but had good freshness. My experience with the ripe 2009 RSV shows that if you buy this, you should give it 15 and not 10 years before drinking to let the tertiary aromas fully be developed.
