Community Tasting Notes 15

May 12, 2024 - Parker 100 Pointer Lunch, tasted blind: Tasted blind. Lots of cocoa on the palate, and an attractive, soft palate. so I was guessing an elegant rendition of a Rioja, like the Alta 904 for example. It was nice to drink, not overly complex though.

May 11, 2024 - Absolutely beautiful fresh red berry fruit of rhubarb and strawberry. Darker mineral notes of ash and a fine, herbaceous base. A more simple and lightly structured palate, but in good balance.

November 19, 2023 - No detailed notes taken. Expressive nose with smoke, stems, toast. On the palate fine dark red berries, fine minerality, some stems and toast. Round and harmonious. Fine tannins and acidity. Not too complex but so easy to drink. What is a bit worrying: the wine got weaker and weaker with time and air, lost its fruit and became difficult to enjoy. 93pts at first, later clearly below 90pts.

November 11, 2023 - Tasted at a restaurant in Meursault. Cherry fruit, fresh with herbal complexities, almost minty elements even. On the palate a bit of heat, wobbly balance. This actually started decently and promising, but with increasing temperature this completely fell apart. This was decanted for <1h which with hindsight was a bad choice. Suspect a bottle issue as had this earlier in the year at the same place and that bottle was flawless.

April 27, 2023 - Tasted during a visit to Meursault. Red berry, sour cherry with hints of plum. Earthy with notes of cigar box and meaty elements. Sweet oaky notes. So far so impressive. The palate then boasts impeccable balance, a satin texture, fresh acidity and a long, leathery finale. Had no idea this was possible in Monthélie.
