March 27, 2024 - dark ruby and medium plus body in the glass. shows the trademark Ryan perfumed nose with rose petals mingling with the red and dark cherry, pomegranate, spice, and mushroom and undergrowth. a spice vein runs from entry to finish thru the concentrated black plum and red cherry fruits. slightly earthy, savoury, and dried herb notes appear mid-palate. good acidic lift, fairly well-integrated tannins and very long.

while mostly primary, it is in its window already and hinting at the tertiary elements and additional complexity that will develop with some more time (upside potential here). drink according to your preference.

14.8% AbV; seventeen months' ageing in French oak barrels (30% new, 20% second use, 50% neutral).

March 11, 2024 - I agree with BESTDAMCAB’s notes. For me, the earth and mushroom were unexpected. The differing fruits changed from lighter to darker berries, plums maybe, as it opened over our dinner. But the earth smell reminded me of damp cellars in the Midwest. I worried it was bad. Un-expected, but not unpleasant, just different, interesting. Can’t give it a number. May buy again at about $54 + 7 CF served at Third Corner.

November 18, 2023 - Delicious no doubt... but clocks in at 14.8% ABV (I suspect it's actually higher). Way too much for a Pinot... oof. I'll stick to OR/WA as the higher latitude allows for cooler growth climates.

January 13, 2023 - 2017 Ryan is stunning. Petrichor, mint, wood smoke. The wine is phenomenally evocative and a bit of a shape shifter — ephemeral scents abound. Difficult to beat at the price point.
