Community Tasting Notes 3

January 3, 2020 - Appearance: clear deep ruby.
Nose: clean, medium intensity. Aromas of dill, cedar, red rose, savoury, meaty, nutmeg, blackcurrant, red cherry, blueberry, tomato leaf. It's developing.
Palate: dry, medium plus acidity, high tannins (feel a little unripe and stalky), high alcohol, medium plus body, medium plus flavour intensity. Dark chocolate comes through with a little bitness in the finish (medium finish).
Overall, it has fruit concentration with elegance and finesse, but unripe tannins is a bit putting off and tip the balance of the wine, which is very disappointing. It shouldn't appear to be like this given it's price point. I have to rate it as only acceptable level for now. Will drink it later today to see if there's any change before I give it a final rating.
Finished it on day 2. Confirming the tannins are stalky and green.

August 4, 2019 - An elegant style, lighter than what I was expecting based on previous vintages. Cassis/blackberry, dried herbs and fine grain french oak. Very good structure and length, with a hint of 'creaminess' on the palate. A very good wine.

June 6, 2019 - Taylors cellar door tour tasting (26 Waterloo Street, Surry Hills, Sydney): Quite baked fruit, black hue, sweet spice, cedar with time a little blackcurrant, cream and vanilla but this is quite monolithic on the nose. Extracted black fruits are juicy, this is not as overblown as the Taylor Made Shiraz but is still a bit of a brawler. Tastes like there is a touch of residual sugar here and the tannins (flour textured, drying) introduce a smidge of bitter coffee. Fruit persists. Time will help if you like this sort of thing
