May 20, 2023 - Yeah, this is over the hill. Oxidized on the nose and sweet on the palate, but neither in a good way. Bummer as I was looking to try some good vintage port with some age - something I have not previously experienced.

March 23, 2022 - A bit disappointing - perhaps over the hill. Lacked colour and body, with alcoholic warmth rather than any richness of fruit.

November 25, 2021 - Nickolls and Perks 30th Anniversary tasting of Symington's Vintage Ports (Zoom): A denser and more mature colour than the 1991 Vesuvio.
Being charitable, you could say this feels much more tertiary on the nose. But really, it's just rather flat on the nose: not a TCA soft of scalping, but there's some car showroom rubberiness, together with some of that elevated rubberiness that you used to get from the pink erasers on the end of pencils. Then there's a curious hint of cement dust too. Odd.
In the mouth, initially it seems intensely floral, but that quickly gives way to a rather disjointed feel. The initial sweetness is followed by a hollow astringency, before reverting to rose syrup flavours and a touch of pot pourri.
It's not unpleasant, and there's no obvious fault. But it really doesn't seem to quite right, or at least not in a good place at the moment. I'm not even sure that, if served blind, you'd even guess this was port, swaying to a sticky red from somewhere in the new world having a play. (Yikes, that sounds very, very damning of an ancient house like Cockburn's, doesn't it?)

January 31, 2021 - Not complex or fine, but very much alive and full of pleasure. Colour holding up and not really fading. Very vigorous and with a real alcoholic kick.
