February 2, 2023 - 2011 Château du Moulin Noir was elegantly textured and blessed with tertiary charm. The maturing Merlot-based Bordeaux blend was clear and medium garnet with a trace of fine sediments. It was quite reticent freshly uncorked. With two hours of gentle in-bottle aeration, it opened up agreeable aromas of red plum and liqourice, followed by leather, earth and a hint of blood.

The mouthfeel was dry and medium-bodied, with medium levels of balanced acidity and mellow tannin. There were flavours of raspberry, mocha, tobacco and raw meat in a medium, smoky finish. The 13.5% alcohol was well-integrated. The empty bottle weighed 550 grams. To be frank, it did not have the weight nor the velvety texture of a great St. Émilion or Pomerol. Yet, its drinkability and the joyous atmosphere with wine friends just made up for it.

The blend was composed of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc. The vines were cultivated on a seven-hectare vineyard on clay and limestone. The wine was raised in French oak barrels for twelve months.

September 25, 2022 - Tried another bottle in the cellar which seemingly had a bit more fruit than the last one I drank. This experience was even more enjoyable. Upon cracking the bottle you get the underbrush/black olive/ oxidative flavours and then with a bit of air, opens up to plum and sweet spice. Tannins and acidity very well integrated and the tannins appeared higher in this bottle than the last I remembered. Solid long finish. Price to value on this way based on how it drank tonight was fantastic

September 13, 2022 - Enjoyable wine to drink NOW. I wouldn’t hold any longer. Fruit is still present, but fading. Minor nose of raspberry, plum and currrent. On the pallet nice acidity, and decent finish. Tannins are medium at best. Still good fruit left on the palet.

December 18, 2021 - Nothing to get excited about, but a pleasant wine to go with a lamb stir-fry. Medium body, nice nose, restrained fruit and herbal/savoury flavours. Unlike the previous review, still drinking well.

September 2, 2021 - No Score. Way past it. Can't drink up as it is not drinkable.
