March 9, 2024 - 100% Nerello Mascalese from 80 - 110 y-o vines, between 1800' and 3,300' volcanic soil vineyards. Decanted 2.5 hours. Med (-) ruby. Unfiltered. Med + red cherry, tart black cherry, violets, sweet black plum, savory herbs, licorice, flint & a hint of oak spice from 10 mos. in a mix of large, neutral oak and concrete. Dry, w/ a mix of sweet and tart fruit, med (+) to high acidity. The polished tannins are med to med (+), w/ high but sneaky alcohol (14.5% abv). Med (+) body, flavor intensity and length, w/ a taut smoky minerals finish. Drinking well now, w/ upside aging potential.

January 21, 2024 - Super solid Etna in a very good place right now.

Nose of cherry cola, dried fruit, brown sugar, garrigue, paprika, all-spice, and warm cedar. Fairly prominent oak but not unpleasantly so.

Palate shows robust powdery tannin complemented by a bright wash of acidity.

January 6, 2024 - I tend to come back to this wine from time to time and it's one of my favorite reds. Elegant and complex. Fruity with the dominant dried cherry and relatively soft tannins.
