Community Tasting Notes 25

May 21, 2024 - I think it was the Tannat overtones that made this harsh and out of balance. Didn't really get better on the 2nd day or after Aervana .

May 13, 2024 - Whomever gave it a 95 was a tad optimistic. Maybe in a few years as it has some aging potential. Acid over comes the Fruit right now (Pop un Pour) but some Air might cure that. I'll consume a half of the Bottle with dinner and try it again tomorrow night. For now, definitely a food wine.
Not a sipper but we'll see what an overnight decant does for it.

April 22, 2024 - Much more of the Bordeaux varietals on the nose (40% of the blend is evenly divided between Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc). Cassis, tobacco, tomato leaf, and a hint of perceptible oak. The palate has more of the Tannat character, with powerful grip and a hint of iron that I usually associate with the varietal, punctuated by dark fruit and spice. This is quality wine for a good price, but lacks some typicité.

April 21, 2024 - Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour with some friends while we played pool. The 2018 pours a dark garnet with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of dark fruit: black plum, cassis, tobacco, cocoa, ferrous minerals, gentle, dried cool spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. Masculine and pretty impressive value. I would imagine this would be a solid paring with cassoulet. Drink now and through 2028.
