Community Tasting Notes 12

April 22, 2024 - An excellent example of a Zinfandel made with some restraint. This is not the massive Petite Syrah imposter. Yes, it is fruit forward, but there is more than just fruit. Some spice. Some tobacco. But mostly blue and black berries. Not the best choice for the delicate veal we ate with it. We have drunk several Burgundies during the past month, and I just wanted some variety.

December 21, 2023 - Good depth of flavor and aromatics. Typical zin fruit, with some underlying herbaceousness. Nicely balanced.

November 4, 2023 - 14.5% ABV Dark red in color. Anise, fig.

October 11, 2023 - This has improved since last night when I first opened it. Not the jammy overripe Zins of my youth. This has nice tobacco and is smooth and rich. One of the better Zins I’ve had in sometime. Really drinking nicely for a 7-year-old Amador Zin. 4-12-15-8: 89/100.

September 3, 2023 - Day 1; slow ox for several hours, beautiful zin fruit on the nose. Shines immediately after opening. Textbook. Blue fruits and proper jam. Palate a bit muted as the fruit was trying to emerge.

Day 2(early); role reversal. Aromatics faded and fruits shined over my tongue.

Day 2(later on); less friendly. Brash and more complicated. Not sure where it’s going. Enjoyable but less joyous.

Addendum: this showed tobacco and cigar box day2((later on). The words alluded me but came to me overnight.
