February 23, 2015 - No trace of fruit. Not over the hill, just light pink at rim. But this isn't good.

March 5, 2012 - A good pinot, but I am starting to dislike lower level burgs...

April 21, 2008 - The wine starts out with a room filling funk of barnyard. Even for 30 minutes after pouring I can't quite allow myself to drink this, hoping the smell will blow off. It's not horrible, but does smell a bit like my snake just took a crap in the corner of his tank last week, and it's now fully seeped into the wood shavings. A random cherry does tend to poke its way through the festering wood stench. 45 minutes in, the off-putting smells do begin to dissipate, and the nose slowly transitions towards sour cranberries, but really instead of having deeper aromas develop, once the funk blew off there was just the same light bits of fruit remaining, and what use to be overpowering (in a bad sense) just becomes quite soft and fruity, with no funk. Interesting transition. The next day the funk is 100% gone, and the nose displays light red raspberry, cranberry, and briar. Flavors in the mouth are becoming delicious with big ripe, red cherry at the forefront, along with some strawberry and briar. Once I swallow the sweet fruit *immediately* disappears, and the finish bites hard with sour cranberries to start, and slowly fades in intensity. Fairly tasty, but I think overall I enjoyed the 2003 better, and like the '03, this is definitely best in the mouth, before swallowing. Afterwards it's a bit disappointing. May buy one more just to let it sit a few years and see if it becomes better like the '03 did.

April 20, 2008 - No formal notes, but the volatile acidity mentioned in a previous note is there, especially on opening. It does, however, blow off (or integrate?) with time and is pretty much a perfect Bourgogne rouge afterward. Very nice.
