February 19, 2013 - Science experiment gone wrong. Heavy oxidation. Drinkable but not particularly good.

    June 25, 2011 - Color: Hazy yellow
Smell: Butter, hazelnut, lemon, peanut brittle, flint, chalk
    Taste: lemon, apple, pineapple, hazelnut,
Overall: Complex and "in your face" on the nose...but the palate shows restraint and finesse in a manner that has me slightly flabbergasted and at a loss for words...

March 20, 2010 - This is still more interesting than good, but it's really good now. I've had limited experience with this wine, but given the notes, I'd say it's finally hitting its stride. There's no question the oxidation is intentional. This drinks more like a Savienierres than Chardonnay. I still don't know enough to understand this wine, but I enjoyed my ignorance much more than the last one.

July 11, 2009 - Beautiful nose w/ butter, lemon and subtle oxidation - which gives it honey, banana, nutty flavors - hauntingly good. BTW, many reviewers below point out that the oxidation is a flaw but I'm pretty sure it was intended. The wine is rich and fat in the mouth - balanced but great acidity which gives it a long, long finish. Lots of fun to drink!

January 22, 2009 - More interesting than good. But good too. In its way. Brightly aromatic nose, but much of the fanfare has to be new American oak enveloping subdued, green apple fruit. Unfiltered and slightly reductive, this is deceptive on the palate. At first it's awkward and acidic, but then suddenly mellows and shows richness and depth. This is frightfully, almost painfully, young, and the oak is too showy on the palate as well. This one puts me up against the limits of my knowledge. Wondering if this started malo, but was stopped along the way? And how much of the strangeness is from the vineyard, and how much from (possibly?) commercial yeasts? It's certainly a ponderous brew, and I'll give points for that. But I'm not sure this has anywhere to go. Could be one of those dazzling prodigies who fizzle into adolescent mediocrity. Or...
