There is a smoothness to it, like an orange and maple combo, but not sweet. Some caramel here, I suppose from the oak this is aged in? Finishes with an evaporating note that gets into my beak, a little peaty going down. At 90 proof, I can't do much of this but it warms me up and it's also a note for charity so for a good cause!

  February 11, 2021 - Just opened my first of two bottles of this, as Jamie recently sent an offer for the next vintage. I’ve had a lot of cognac, so it was interesting to taste this Kutch Fine brandy. This is made from Pinot Noir lees, and aged in Chardonnay barrels for at least three years. It’s 92 proof, and the bottles are hand numbered and hand labeled by Jamie Kutch himself.
  
  This brandy pours a lovely light to slightly medium toffee color. On the nose, which I breathe in with my mouth open to soften things and not burn my nose, there is a lovely sweet caramel and vanilla. The first sip is quite strong and difficult to taste, but the second, third and fourth sips make things easier. There’s dried apricots, a great buttery caramel center, and some orange marmalade. The finish is long and strong, and the flavors stay with you for some time.
  
  Not sure how to score, as it’s not a wine, but thoroughly enjoyed, and highly recommended. A fun project to taste and own from one of the top Pinot makers in California.
