October 8, 2023 - Quite a few years since I last had Gimli’s Bierzo Godello La Claudina (now v18, 13.5% ABV) - thrilled to revisit this incredible wine, unique w a bright combination of smoky Atlantic notes, sleekness yet w considerable depth & creaminess. White golden, slight green reflections in the glass. Nose bursts w smoke & gun-powder, mildly restrained yellow apples & peach, nuts - truly complex scent-composition. Palate takes you on a roller-coaster ride w a sleek mid-palate, fine acidic structure & a salty, lenghty finish! Very impressive & to my liking.

March 5, 2023 - Tasted over 2 hrs
-translucent pale yellow
-waxy lanolin eventually yields some sweet-ish almost tropical yellow fruit
-med/med+ acidity is both gentle and intense on the back end, med- weight softly textured delicate sappy tangy subtle white fruit with a mild bitter note and good minerality, very good now
-nose seems quite evolved but still fresh delicate and complex on the palate, more sophisticated and elegant than the basic Bierzo bottling -

July 1, 2021 - Citrus nose. Citrus mouth. Citrus finish. Empyreumatic notes add some complexity. But citrus flavors really dominate.

March 8, 2021 - Bruised apple, licorice, burnt orange, earthy mushroom.
Palette is citrusy and nutty with ginger spice, phenolic architecture and snappy lemon peel drive.
This is a feral creature and young. We need more of these in the world.4 people found this helpful Comment -

December 2, 2020 - I kind of enjoyed this but my wife hated this, and
she certainly has a point when she says the wine has 0 fruit in it. There is plenty of beeswax, green wood, phenolics and all the rest which I suppose comes from the oak barrels but could also be variety driven as I am not familiar with the grape.
I found this kind of racy but I do see her point...1 person found this helpful Comment
