  June 4, 2016 - This needed many hours to open. It's definitely past its prime. However, it was still pleasant to drink. The fruit was subtle and the smokiness was pronounced. Tannins were soft and the finish was medium. There was no pepper as a top note.

  August 2, 2009 - I did not like this at first opening - hot, boiled plum, unbalanced. (It was a gift from a realtor and the bottle probably had not been stored properly and also needed time to breath). It improved later that evening and the next day—dark fruit, earth, raw meat.

  October 20, 2006 - Great spicy bouquet. Viscous taste with major heat and a hint of fruit. After about an hour in the glass it started showing more fruit. I assume by tomorrow it will open up even more as the alcohol blows off. Could have stayed in the cellar another few years.

  September 20, 2003 - Very nice deep old vine zin. up there with the 3 r's classy heavy, needede an hour air time to get some flavor. first taste, diddle and after taste
