Community Tasting Notes 3

January 14, 2023 - Drank over several nights with consistent notes on both nights. Very aromatic with dark cherry, plum, and meat/blood. Our doctor friend, who knew nothing about Cote-Rotie wines, said "this smells like blood and I know what blood smells like!" Full bodied with cherry, plum, well balanced tannic and acidic structure, long black peppery finish. Great example of Cote-Rotie and a decent price.

April 13, 2022 - Drank over two days.

Bold, forward, and loud, particularly for the listed 13 abv. Purple fruited and smoky, correct.

This noted, savory, bloody, and umami notes showed only in the background, overpowered by concentrated fruit and oak treatment.

Had hoped for a wine like the 2014 vintage, which over-delivered in every measurable wine-of-the-earth category.

Had hoped for, but did not expect, improvement on the second day. Unsurprisingly, no change.

This handled similar to a high quality, New World leaning, Collines Rhodaniennes offering, in a ripe year, yet with relatively low alcohol. As such, quite disappointing, and poor QPR.

March 10, 2021 - This is a great producer but this wine doesn’t have the depth and complexity I would expect. It’s still very young and perhaps needs more time. I get some black fruit, acidity and a little sour note I don’t find appealing.
