April 22, 2015 - Cheval Blanc and D'Yquem dinner with Pierre Lurton and Bernard Burtschy (Taberna del Alabardero, Washington D.C.): Significantly better than the last bottle but a hint of oxidative note. According to Pierre only 15hl per hectare and it showed. Incredibly concentrated dense nose displaying sweet dry red fruits, dry cherry, dry fig, plum, soy, meat, tar, chestnut and cedar. Incredible concentration, intensely sweet dry red fruit driven palate impression, dense and unctuous and still noticeable structure. I was planning to slow ox/adouze the night before but opted not to which was turned out to be not a bad thing. I thought I am an expert in opening old bottles and it back fired. I was a bit careless and put too much pressure on ah so and the cork slid and eventually fell into the bottle. I was forced to quickly decant. I believe the wine would have shown better if it was handled more gently. Most folks including myself enjoyed the wine quite a bit despite the wine being slightly madeirized.

December 18, 2014 - Holiday Bordeaux Dinner with Eric - 82, 89 & 90 FGs among others (The Grill Room at Capella Hotel Georgetown): Unfortunately noticeable oxidative note, dry black fruits, fig, chestnut, soy and earth. Excellent concentration, substantial fruit, rust and still showing a bit of tannins as the end note. Love to taste a correct bottle as it showed substantial fruit concentration. I would have rate this 91 despite the oxidative note.

December 18, 2014 - A great dinner at Capella in DC (Washington DC): Very light rim on the ancient beauty. Mint, menthol, tar and some BBQ notes on the nose. Cherry, nuts and coffee on the palate.
