Community Tasting Notes 23

November 25, 2023 - WCONNOLLY and FFZHANG nailed the notes on these. Mine was a 750 and the nose and color were magnificent. I got blueberry and integrated tannins on a wine that was nicely balanced. Great QPR for what I paid and I enjoyed the bottle. My lone critique was that it lacked a little on the finish (taste profile was clipped) got better with air. Revisited at several times over about a five hour time frame. Saved a little for tomorrow to try again. Can’t remember when Heidi started (thought it was 2007) so not sure who made this wine. All in all a good wine made by a high quality producer. I will try my 2007 next!

September 8, 2019 - Served from magnum. A bit smoky and spicy in character, with subtle stewed blue fruit. Soft tannins, pleasant finish.

December 25, 2018 - Served from a magnum after 3 hours of air. Much better than the last 750 ml a year ago. Aromatic, floral nose. Medium indigo color. Black and blue fruit on the palate. Diminishing tannins, but still enough to provide some balance.

    November 14, 2017 - Oops...waited about a year too long. Oh well...

October 27, 2017 - Last 750 ml of this bottle. Probably waited a bit too long. No sign of age in the color... deep indigo in the glass, no orange at the rim. A bit of an earthy nose in lieu of the floral, fruity aroma in a younger bottle. Full bodied with earthy notes of leather, cedar and forest floor. Still good but more of a Bordeaux profile at this time. Still have a magnum. Will likely drink next weekend with friends in hope that aging has been slowed by the large format.
