December 2, 2023 - ESTG Year-End Tasting (Newcastle, WA): A moldy edge on the nose. Crazy, crazy dark color. Edgy, mint, strong acidity, red fruit. Some caramel. Very vigorous. Lots of Latour structure. There was some debate as to whether this was corked, but no way in my book. Just a bit of a moldy edge that blew off for the most part.

April 9, 2017 - This was upright in the cellar for 18 hours and we drank it without decanting. For the 1st 15 minutes it had a closed nose and a tight flavor and then it slowly opened and showed it's elegance. There was minimal brown at the edge. This is not a robust wine, but after 60 years still has beautiful elegant fruit and subtile tannins. It improved over an hour and then gracefully slipped away. Even the dregs were pleasant.

January 15, 2015 - Opened at 7AM double decanted. Very light in color. Began drinking around 1. Still tight. Developed over the evening. Began to flower around 8. Strawberry on the nose. 11% Alcohol. Many characteristics from earthy to spicy to floral throughout tasting. Almost pinot noir in character.

March 6, 2014 - Drank along with 48 Latour and outbid it likely due to bottle variation of the 48. Wine opened in 30 minutes and lasted for 2 hrs. Though structure slightly light, very enjoyable.

September 7, 2013 - Stunning for the year and the 375 format. Big, powerful, tannic. Developed some iron and pruning notes after 20 minutes in the glass. Not the best wine ever, but my expectations were in the 85 point range, and this blew us away. Structure over rode the fruit initially, spice, wood and not quite ripe red red fruits. Some raisin and prune, but not nearly as pronounced as expected.
