March 10, 2024 - Popped and poured, then left roughly 40% of the bottle in the fridge for day 2. The cork surprisingly shattered while I was opening the bottle, but the Durand saved the day. This is a solid wine with some moderate+ sediment toward the end of the bottle. On the nose, I get blueberry, tobacco, and rosebush. In the mouth, this was disappointing – it’s lighter, high acid, and a bit dilute, with modest red fruit flavors. The finish is crisp and continues the tart red fruit elements. Overall, I found this to be underwhelming. It’s a wine shaped in the old-school claret model, but nondescript and overpriced for what’s in the glass. I’ve had some very enjoyable 2006s Bordeaux, but this is not one of them. The wine was about the same on day 2 as day 1, so I’m not sure there’s much upside left here. I liked a prior bottle a bit more, so maybe there’s some bottle variation, although I didn’t pick up any flaws here. 89 points.

December 28, 2023 - Deep red center, red rim with clear signs of age.
Great nose of mature Bordeaux, oven roasted black plums, blackcurrants and black cherries, a little toasty, lots of dried herbs.
Smooth, mature dark fruits, pine and a touch of grilled steak, supporting acid and tannin, well integrated alcohol (13%), a very light touch of bandaid, something a little vegetal on the finish combined with toasted oak.
Excellent mature Margaux, drinking well now and definitely more secondary notes. Has another 5 years to go.

October 17, 2023 - Somewhat overshadowed by the food and event, but great mature Margaux. Need to spend more focused time with another bottle.

September 16, 2023 - An easy afternoon with close friends (@ PdV): Beautiful and developed bouquet with dark berries and graphite as well as beautiful oak and some sweet impressions. Same on the palate, sweet and dark chocolate, refinement, beautiful acidity and soft and mature tannin. The wine is on its peak now and probably the next 2 – 3 years. Lovely and great wine now!

June 7, 2023 - Still quite fruited with an earthy tobacco character , though slightly torrefacted, and lacking acidity to really be properly balanced , but nevertheless nicely evolved and more enjoyable than other 06 bdx I’ve recently had.
