  July 22, 2019 - Airoldi Fine Wines Winter Tasting (Oak Barrel, Elizabeth Street, Sydney): Leather, plums, plain chocolate backed by meaty, farmyard notes and earth. More of the same on the palate, slightly Bretty as well, grippy tannins close down the font of the mouth and the fruit doesn't persist. Quite rustique shall we say.

  December 17, 2014 - Pristine bottle, perfect level, label and cork. Medium depth of colour, sombre red hue, browning at the edges; good depth on the nose, quite evolved, aromas of earth, leather and liquorice, sweet raspberry top note; the palate is solid and sturdy rather than refined at the moment, relatively slender, with firm and slightly drying tannins but also a decent core of black cherry fruit; light finish but good length, dried fruit seems to indicate maturity. An old-fashioned Saint-Emilion, should soften with a few more years of age, but I doubt that it will develop much further.
