Community Tasting Notes 7

December 16, 2009 - Decanted and had first taste within1 hr. Color is deep cherry red and vibrant. Nose is quite aromatic with cherry and some earthiness coming through. Found it to be less accessible on drinking. Tannins somewhat pronounced and acidic bordering on sour. Food helped. This was day 1. AFter two days the wine is softer and more pleasant. The earthiness has toned down and there is some lasting fruit. Not sure I'd go back to this one, though perhaps with more bottle age it would be better.

August 26, 2009 - What this wine was lacking in volume it compensated with clean, fresh flavors of red fruit and the acidity worked well with my wife's wonderful tomato sauce(not gravy!). A very pleasant accompaniment to your basic Italian meal.

March 1, 2009 - we decanted for 30 minutes but probably should have done 4x that long. Not very polished but brought good cherry and mineral flavors. This improved during the night

January 9, 2009 - Subtle nose that opened to hints of red fruit and spice. Sour cherry, spice, raspberry on the palate. Medium body with delicate tannins and nice finish.

September 26, 2008 - Liked the balance to this, such that I felt it might aged well over the short term (5 or more years)
