Community Tasting Notes 3

June 22, 2010 - Holding up well for a 5 yr old cheap malbec. Spicy plummy fruit, a little stewed in flavour. Soft and nicely rounded. Very few rough edges. Quite impressed.

July 8, 2007 - Not very revealing, but very smooth (Not sure why the discrepancy with the other tasting note. I did not find it to be harsh or overly alcoholic, but I do agree with the oakiness. Perhaps it was because I was drinking it with food?). Medium to full bodied. Oaky and earthy rather than fruity. Nothing off-putting, but would have liked a bigger nose and more fruit. Drank with flank steak, and the wine held up to the meat nicely. Not sure about the price as this was brought by a friend.

July 2, 2007 - Nice legs in glass, and very nice nose indeed. Very fresh and vegetable nose, but also oaky and "young" (read heat). As soon as it entered my mouth I thought: "it is wine alright", but boy, the oak is all over the place. The oak monster is totally on the loose here. Where did the Malbec go?? actually, there is a little bit of fruit in the mid-palate, but as it is expected in young argentinian wines, specially in this case, the heat is overwhelming, and so is the oak. So it's basically, breaks my heart to have to use this word, booze with oak that takes over the entire finish of this wine. My 79 points are very generous, and even at four bucks a pop, it's a pass.
