December 9, 2023 - Purple color; nose and palate were very consistent - blackberry and blueberry fruit; hints of tobacco and cocoa; very intensive flavors but mellow tannins; nice long finish

July 31, 2022 - Deep ruby, almost purple color. Pronounced aromas and flavors of dark fruit (blackberry, blueberry), some cedar and tobacco. Still moderately tannic even after 9 years. High alcohol. Moderate to long finish.

I was surprised that the primary fruit aromas and flavors still dominate. Was expecting more secondary and tertiary aromas and flavors after 9 years. Still had plenty of life to cellar another 5 years.

June 4, 2018 - Decanted over cocktails and served. Stunning balance of feminine and masculine with floral nose, pure, forward black and blue fruit on the palate and a very long finish with a touch of chocolate. This didn't change much over dinner. Very special.

March 2, 2018 - Charleston Food & Wine Festival; 3/1/2018-3/3/2018 (Charleston, SC (various locations)): From Diamond mountain. This was loads of blueberries (Kathryn mentioned black cherry, but I really just get blueberry jam). It's got a hint of black pepper. A bit less intense and hedonistic than it's cousin the Exzellence although it's still very much in that intense new world mold. Some silkiness to the flavors. A bit herbal. More refined, but not really a refined wine. This comes from a vineyard that is surrounded by pine trees and red woods and I wonder a bit if maybe there's a touch more shade or something in that greenness and coolness that comes through in the wine here (just a touch).

May 21, 2017 - Hall Premier Tasting Event (Hall Winery): This wine is fairly approachable for a big 2013 cabernet, the tannins are present, but are round sweet and supple. Dark inky syrup on the palate, luxurious texture. This wine has an incredible refinement to it, having tasted it twice the first bottle was better. This showing was a bit tired, but still unbelievable wine. Masculine and opulent the diamond mountain terroir is evident, the volcanic soil is present in the wine, stunning finish goes on forever. What a wine.
