March 24, 2023 - Deep to ruby-black colour, the nose has a wealth of red fruits, cassis, black raspberry, crème de mure, and plenty of vanilla-edged oak intermingled with spices and 70% dark chocolate. Full-bodied, sturdy and bold with lots of sweet notes, super ripe and intense. Flavours of liquorice, blackcurrant coulis, cassis with a twist of vanilla extract, a balsamic glaze and jujube fruit. Polished, the wine is strapping yet reasonably straightforward, with a hot, generous side showing its alcohol power. Sinewy the tannins are sweet and powdery-edged, and the wine closes with more liquorice and marinated blackberry—long finish.
