  In any case, this seems pretty restrained at the moment, with some nice floral elements on the nose and fairly restrained by classic Syrah character on the palate. Not much depth or concentration at this stage, but the flavors are pretty, though on the simple side. I can see this evolving into something special, but probably 5+ years I would think. For now, I'd score this 90 - 91 with some upside as it evolves.

  November 5, 2022 - Rhone Birthday 2022; 11/4/2022-11/6/2022: Less intense and lush than prior vintages. Love the focus and lifted on the nose as this shows persistent white pepper and violet notes. Palate is a bit thin and lacking fullness--but is still quite fresh and lifted. Great energy Maybe will fill out with time. Nice food driven wine.

  October 12, 2022 - Tastings at Bedrock, Sojourn, Extradimensional Wine Co Yeah!; 10/10/2022-10/12/2022 (Sonoma): Nose: like an old lodge in the West. Bright acid that lasts. Elegant fruit. Long finish. Serve with cassoulet.
  
  Tasted next to the 2019 Bedrock Calico Syrah: this one was more elegant and complex, while the Calico was darker and more direct.

  August 29, 2022 - I should hold this longer but I couldn't resist. When I popped the cork, I didn't know I was about to embark on a fun 6 day journey with this wine.
  
  On day 1-2, oily, meaty aromas and mouthfeel evoke an overflowing charcuterie board. There was a lot of spice flying out of the glass as fresh cracked black pepper, white pepper, sage and violet petals flow from the aromatics through to the palate. This has a lot of the characteristics that make Bedrock Syrah charming for me. The glaring bit missing from this wine the first two day of opening was the lack of fruit. You keep trying to bite into the dark fruits, but you only get a taste of the skins. The edges are very sharp in the first two days, and the long but slightly rough finish communicated as much.
  
  By the 3-4th day, the wine is showing what it is fully capable of with more time in the cellar. A lot of the cured meats have been eaten at this point, but fresh-cut dark berries have quickly replaced their space on the charcuterie board. The fruits start showing definition as you start biting into fleshy black cherries and damson plums. They bring acidity and chewy tannins to the table as the wine evolves. Rose petals being added to the existing violets add a more elegant spin to the wine as it tones down its flamboyance. Probably what you would get if you had a longer decant. You start to get a feeling of sweet and savory with a structure forming. I welcome the well-made bacon-wrapped dates arriving onto the table, but they don't last for long - you probably need a good cellaring to feel this peak in its final form.
  
  By the 5th/6th day, the wine enters its twilight years. The last few bits of cured meat are eaten at this point and all that remains are the raisins and prunes served in small dipping sauce cups. Scents of the pepper and herbs from the charcuterie remain on the well-worn charcuterie board. The acidity starts to dominate, but the low ABV prevents this from becoming alcoholic juice. Its a gentler wine to approach on its final days, and becomes a more comforting drink.
  
  This is a very difficult wine to drink, but with enough patience in the cellar or through aeration in bottle, you will be rewarded much beyond the ~$50 price tag this wine commands. The Bedrock team really knocks it out of the park with this one.
