April 18, 2024 - Dinner at 312 Fish Market (Chicago, IL): Good, but not quite at the level that the price of this commands. It's certainly very pinot dominant on the palate and nose -- quite rich with a pronounced mushroomy quality. Richer textured, but somehow the dosage feels a little less than necessary to really fill out the bones of this wine.

December 26, 2022 - Boxing day wines at Empire: Quite dark in colour with sweetness which I felt came from ripe fruit rather than dosage, so I agreed that this might have been a majority Meunier champagne. Crisp red fruit, slightly woolly and not very precise so I went with 2015 as a warm but not a particularly strong vintage. Liked the style though as everything was balanced otherwise so thought it was a producer that I liked - no surprises when it was Bereche on reveal.

November 25, 2021 - First of two. Opened about 2 hrs ago. Disgorged January 2020, 100% Pinot Noir with 3 grams of dosage. From the village of Rilly, which is also home base for Vilmart, my favorite producer in my cellar now. But back to Bereche, I already enjoy their Le Cran bottling so I grabbed some Rilly this year. This pours with a slight peachy color. Aromas of toasted wood, smoke and flint. Bitchen to smell. The palate? Beautiful. Stone fruits, pastry, citrus marmalade, raspberries, just a lot of great stuff going on. A finish of length and persistence. As much as I like Le Cran, this Rilly bottling is bordering on outstanding. Bravo.
