July 29, 2023 - Double decanted for 2 hrs, deep ruby, black cherry, med. tannins, long finish; outstanding, at peak, drink or hold (no rush)

May 26, 2020 - Wow, delicious. Decanted, but poured and started tasting immediately. Dark purple color with red tint. Fragrant nose of black fruit, leaves/grass, earth, herb lamb (just kidding). Super wide breadth of flavors. Black and red fruit, cut grass/peapod, limestone, a subtle floral note, but all held together by a mid-palate sweet core of See's English Toffee with nuts and milk chocolate. Ok, maybe a stretch, but that's what comes to mind, right in the middle, on the way through. Mid- to full-bodied, smooth, with a hint of very fine-grained tannins. Long finish. Beautifully balanced and integrated. Excellent wine.

August 26, 2017 - Was in the (rare) mood for something big (to go along with a Prime Tomahawk from Costco), and this fit perfectly. Linear, pure, very intense nose with the same intensity on the full-bodied palate in the form of its focus, and elegance. While the steak was a bit disappointing, the wine was there to fill the gap - and then some. Lovely wine, but something I find myself wanting/being able to enjoy about 2x year. Which is to say, I look forward to the next one this year :D

    Served non-blind; ~ 2 hours in wide-bottom decanter

November 6, 2015 - 2015 Villa d’Este Wine Symposium - Kelly and Kevin's excellent adventure; 11/3/2015-11/9/2015 (Villa D’este, Lake Como): Strong cab nose, slightly vegetal, cassis, slightly dry blueberry, ink, dust and flowers. Excellent concentration, cassis and green pepper driven palate impression, strong note of acidity, slightly dusty tannins and good finish. Quite fresh and surprisingly fresh.

July 22, 2009 - nose of blackberry, herbs, vanilla. big full mouth, with round tannins, balance and complexity. obviously young, but seems to have the makings for an exceptional wine
