February 13, 2024 - Always nice when a wine is ready to go on opening with no guesswork on aeration times and this is one of those wines.
Elegant with silky viscosity and tropical fruit.
Nice vanilla and butterscotch flavors without being overly oaked.
Terrific now and should easily hold for a few years.

May 25, 2023 - Rating: 98 points. Holy moley this is good!!!

SOLID. In a great spot right now. The nose has a lot of young yellow fruit but seems like a juicy yellow fruit bomb but has a lot of limestone minerality on the edge. The palate is sharper, with a lot of limestone grit on the front, yellow juicy fruit, some banana and graham cracker with a sharper white pepper finish. This wine is in a great spot but I dare say that it can hold at least another five years and the secondary notes that might develop from this incredibly structured white wine just might elevate this to a perfect score for me. I don't think I've ever said this. I'm going to search for another couple of these as this is out of this world.

May 1, 2023 - Just ridiculous. Had a bit of petrol at the pnp, and the first hour it was too coiled up for me - but we had it with a very potent, spicy chicken dish that it accompanied like bass guitar. After the chicken we just kept leting it open up. Very tropical and yet also complex, great spine, an almost erotic amount of length.

September 5, 2022 - Very young. Needs a decant (I didn't do that though). Greenish cast. Strong lime, green apple nose. Too cold in the beginning and really started to blossom after an hour. I'll put this down for 1-2 more years. Excellent with a lot of upside! 93+ points

August 24, 2022 - I’ve opened a few Ferren Frei Rd chards (normally in the 4-5yr range) and have enjoyed them, but this was my first Lancel Creek. With the release coming up in a few weeks, I wanted to check in and figure out the profile. I’m between a 93-94 here.

Made by Matt Courtney (formerly at Marcassin, also winemaker at Arista). Beautiful straw colored in the glass with maybe a tinge of green, the aromatics are honeysuckle, sweet lemon, and sea salted almonds. I found this to be very similar to the Frei Rd in regards to acidity. So nervy all the way through. Totally coastal, but with a soft touch of rich fruit. Also similar to the Frei Rd, this is lemon everything (fresh squeezed lemon, lemon cream, lemon scone) but the mineral profile is more enhanced here. There’s a stone/slate vibe toward the finish that keeps this light on its feet. Oak is soft and plays a contributing role, not a dominating one.

I enjoyed this at pop and pour, then revisited 2-3hrs later and found the acidity had calmed down a bit. Definitely give this a decant now if possible, or hold a few more years.
