Community Tasting Notes 15

  • Badfish Likes this wine:

March 26, 2019 - Charming little wine for sure. Was not expecting much from a South African Bordeaux blend pushing twenty years old but this delivers. Certainly has some Graves like character with earthy stoney scorched earth notes to the crisp red and purple fruits. The fruit is still rocking in this and combines with the soft tannins and bright acidity to deliver admirable balance. Not a ton of complexity but a pleasure to consume at this advanced age.

September 25, 2017 - Cork was soft inside. Strained and drank. Just drinkable. Too late!

September 27, 2014 - Mixed Wine Tasting - Blind (At home in the wine cave): MOT score sheet - light chalk on the nose. Dark red with hint of dark brown (not copper or brick). Nicely integrated. Tannins 6/10 and smooth. Still has some life in it - unfortunately my last bottle.

July 12, 2014 - Cork was dried out half way in, but decanted the wine and it was excellent. Opened right up and was a delightful trip to good SA reds!

January 28, 2012 - Blind home wine tasting with MOT Scoring sheet (VA, USA): Light dust/chalk on the nose with a light berry. Dark red and moderately heavy tannins. Moderately long finish - This wine was far better than I though. I was a little worried as I had not tasteed these for a while but it has truly aged well. Without the scoring sheet, I would probably have given it a 93 to 95 at least - I like this.great wine.
