December 25, 2023 - {cork, 13.5%} Maturing, in colour and aroma. Cedar, currants, tomato-leaf. Gentle oak on the palate, open-knit red flavours, medium, dusty if slightly fading tannin, medium acidity. Lovely balance, beguiling (if not quite hugely complex) flavours, medium long finish. Medium weight, sweet-twist cabernet with a medium long finish. At peak.

April 14, 2020 - Cellaraid Discovery Box; 5/19/2017-5/26/2021 (Delivered to Home): Deep garnet core, rim faded and browned, but can see lots of extraction. Nose is extremely developed with dried flowers, prune, and even somewhat tea-like, with pepper cheese, and some volatile heat from alcohol. Clearly lots of alcohol-like spiciness on the palate, and still some tannins, intense developed prunish flavours, nearly sweetish cassis, brambles, some hint of green pepper, and a ton of darkish coffee rub and pencil shavings. Quite a remarkable length though. Have a feel that this one seemed very aged, that it might have gone past its best, but still very big in flavours. Nice!

July 28, 2019 - Deep garnet in the glass. Already fully developed on the nose with tones of dried plums, candied strawberries, tobacco, olives and umami. Still rich, but the acidity is a bit low than expected for a Cab and the structure is slowly fading away. Enjoyable yes, but needs to be drunk up in the next year.

October 10, 2018 - "2019" Sydney International Wine Show - stewarding notes; 10/7/2018-10/12/2018 (Blue Mountains, NSW): {cork, 13.5%} (me) Olives, pyrazine, currants ; a bit bordeaux-ish, but not entirely convincing. Ripe palate, hints of roast tomato, olice, currant. Fine, medium/high chalky tannin structure, medium weight, medium-long finish. Pretty decent for 20 years, even if it does fall short of greatness. Will hold a while too.

August 5, 2013 - NobleRottersSydney - Best of Tasmania (Verde, East Sydney): {cork, 13.5%} The flagship wine of the Estate, and the only Tasmanian wine in the Langtons Classification. It’s around 90% cabernet, 2% Petit Verdot, with the balance shared between cabernet franc and merlot. Spends 3 years in French oak, and then 2 or more years cellared in bottle, hence a glacial release policy; it’s probably the country’s oldest current release, non-fortified wine. First made in 1990. Expected to age for 20 years. 1500 dozen made. Double-decanted about 4 hours prior to consumption. This was well on its development path; yet is still near-ruby in colour. Aromas of black olives and herbs. The palate is dry, medium-bodied but quite intense in flavour, with finely gritty tannins and aging currant fruits. Balanced, understated; a classy wine not quite justifying its reputation (and certainly not its price) on this showing, but now in its drinking window.
