January 19, 2024 - Brought this to a wine dinner at Kai Duck. Theme of the evening: 2002 Bordeaux vs Chilean Bordeaux Blend wines. Drank alongside the 2002 Almaviva.

Dark purple in colour with ripe dark fruits on the nose and palate. Alluring and inviting with some herbaceous and mint notes, backed by dark chocolate and black coffee.

Vibrant, and starting to show some layering and complexity. A stunning wine.

January 5, 2024 - Pop and poured. Drank over 4 hours.

A nose of rich black fruits, blackberry, cassis, black cherry, with a touch of mint and a green leafy almost herbal aspect to the finish.

On the palate the same black fruits, with the mint, a touch of chocolate, and then a slight tannic bite with a touch of leather and tobacco after the first couple of hours. The herbal element also starts to peek into view as the wine aerates.

For a wine of 23 years old it’s still remarkably vibrant and fruity with just a hint of secondary and tertiary development. It’s however very rich, slightly one-paced and for me lacks a bit of complexity and nuance. And while the fruit is certainly there I don’t think it has much more to give than what it’s showing now.

So no hurry to drink up but it doesn’t feel to me that cellaring for longer will bring out any hidden depths.

December 5, 2020 - Fruit bomb, enormous power, round, long. Not complex. Not easy after the superb refined mouton 83.

November 15, 2020 - Young and powerful. Cherries, good soft tannins, round mouthfeel, good length. superb value for money!

June 25, 2017 - Vraiment excellent pour ses 15 ans. Les aromes de plant de tomate se sont estompés. Encore une bonne structure, va tenir la route encore quelques années. En bouche, un peu de vanille, boite à cigare, belle finale persistante
