March 16, 2024 - a properly stored bottled in pristine shape. savory, salty plum, hoisin type flavor which i found fascinating. a bit meager on the fruit, but for a 50 year pinot noir, it seemed about right. Probably this would be been at its peak 30yrs ago, i'm guessing. Still an interesting treat.

January 1, 2021 - Very cloudy, barley, sour plum, palate tannin is medium- and medium- acidity. The palate is better than the nose.

December 21, 2014 - A cheeky little white truffle from Tartufi Morra had just landed so we prepared a simple pasta with garlic, olive oil and butter and liberally shaved it over the top. It was one of the best white truffles that we have had here in Australia. Our accompanying wine was a 1974 Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Romanee St. Vivant Marey Mange. The wine from an unheralded year provided great pleasure and accompanied the truffle pasta most amiably. It smelt of a rose garden with petal perfume, plant matter and black earth aromas. There were also hoisin and soy notes that you tend to see in almost all aged DRC wines. In the mouth it was a little ‘cardboardy’ at first but gained in sweetness in the glass. It is not particularly deep or concentrated but is an ethereal wine that despite some astringency to the finish is thoroughly engaging.

September 13, 2014 - Leroy bottling
Brown.
Rose petals, slight animale and chix soup/sois bois, tea. Not much in terms of fruit. With air was more like beef soup. Still a complex and nice nose.
Palate slightly acidic, with a spicy and alcoholic, slightly bitter finish. Fruit was almost gone, a lean wine. This tasted like an old burg slightly past its prime.
Alcohol mellowed slightly with air but stuck out.
Could be storage issues.
