July 1, 2023 - An absolutely phenomenal bottle of Dauvissat Petit Chablis 2019. Definitely outperforms and exceeds expectations, but also you get what you pay for. Yes you are paying 2.5x + more than a typical other producer's Petit Chablis, but if you are a connoisseur, this is fascinating to experience at least once and with the right food. What's interesting is that this bottle at the 4th year mark was different than a 3 year mark 2018 vintage. There was absolutely no Parmesan cheese rind profile at all. A nose of flowers, green apples, lemon, lemon pith, and sweet grapes (Muscat) also on the tongue which was fascinating (but without the actual sweetness of sugars). Best served medium to fairly chilled (more chilled if need be depending on how hot it is outside). The quality of the aromatic bitter to the nuanced bitter lemon, lemon zest, lemon pith was marvelous and masterful. Corkaged this to a classic style French bistro and enjoyed with salade Lyonnaise, duck & goat cheese rillettes, baguette with Normandy butter from France, crab & cheese souffle with whiskey sauce. If the wine is let to come up towards room temperature, more alcohol and sourness, so please keep this optimally chilled for best results and to prevent that undesired balance. Recommend not to keep any leftovers, unless you want the fruit to completely recede and you end up with more sourness, alcohol, and any mineral (though I didn't really taste much of that, surprising, assuming the grapes come from a site top of Clos...) Save your Premier and Grand Cru's for the much fancier cuisines, and pop up a Petit for elegant casual upscale fare (a fancy summer brunch always seems like a great idea).

January 3, 2023 - Belle structure en bouche, avec un finale saline et une texture légèrement onctueuse, petite touche de vieux bois. Manque un peu d'intensité aromatique. Attendre 2024.

March 3, 2022 - Fresh lemon, classic Chablis minerality, and some cheese rind.

High acid! Long finish that echos the nose.

If someone is curious what classic, high quality Chablis should taste like, hand them a glass of this. Do not let the appellation deter you from spending ~$60 on this bottle. It’s better than most producers' grand cru offerings.

February 13, 2022 - A bit of a waxy/dry extract feel to the glossy yellow citrus and stone fruit, with a balanced acidity that keeps the succulence in proper focus, this 2019 Petit Chablis is silimar to its 2018 sibling, with perhaps a slight uptick in intensity with the younger brother here. A gulper of a wine that goes down faster than the human spirit at a Dave Matthews concert.

Punches above its class when compared to other 1er Crus (as it should, given the tariff), the 2019 Dauvissat Petit Chablis performs as one would expect. Solid quality and consistent delivery throughout consumption. A tasty and yummy version; less of a nervy or hyper-crystalline showing. 92-93 points. If your style veers more toward white fruit and salty fossilized Chablis typicity, score less here. Drink now and over the next 5+ years.
