Community Tasting Notes 3

  • Dominic Roy Likes this wine: 90 points

March 19, 2022 - Nose: Raspberry. Cherry. Vanilla. Blueberry. Smoke. Medium plus intensity.

Palate: Raspberry. Dark chocolate. Sour cherry. Oak. Herbs. Leather. Lavender. High tannins. Medium plus acidity. Medium body. Medium plus flavour intensity. Medium plus finish, sour cherries.

Delicious! Decant before drinking, or cellar for 5-10 years.

July 29, 2021 - Deep ruby with a very subtle gradient towards the rim. The nose is quite perfumed offering ripe red fruits, violets and iodine on toasted oak. The palate is very young at this stage, and hasn’t quite integrated. However, it quickly evolves in the glass revealing a medium body with lively acidity that balances the ripe raspberry, plum, cranberry, blackberry fruit with secondary flavors of tobacco, anise and ash on the oak. There’s a medium plus finish that’s attractively grippy. There’s a good balance balance between fruit and oak. Overall, this is an excellent wine. Drink now with a 1-hr decant until 2032.

November 8, 2020 - Another Vega Sicilia imitator with that use of foreign grapes, wood galore and the incessant search for balance. Unfortunately this result is quite different with a French barrel that overflows in a drying way in the mouth and with predominantly lactic and spicy notes on the nose. Good wine now but it will hardly be outlined with more time in the bottle since it lacks the essential high note of acidity. Much grip but little depth, I am afraid.
