Community Tasting Notes 10

November 27, 2023 - Had at our modified (and late) Thanksgiving dinner and it was wonderful. Highly structured and we obviously were drinking these way too early. Has all the pieces of a classic Brunello.

October 27, 2023 - Heeding other recent notes I decanted this for 4-1/2hrs prior to dinner & slowly but surely this became more pleasurable as the day went on. I started sipping in earnest a couple hours prior to dinner and had to be careful to leave us a couple good pours each with Nita's homemade deep dish. This producer got on my radar a few years ago but I only started buying with the 2016 release. A very wise decision as tonight's btls was one of the best BdMs I've ever had. The only risk here is if more classically styled BdM fans jump on board this could be priced out of my reach in a year or 3. The depth, pristine fruit & vibrance is outstanding. I'm a Johnny come lately but better late than never. 14.5% on label is scary but I had a hard time noticing it in my glass. Nita made a fabulous pizza and I had to rise to the occassion as our cellar master :).

September 17, 2023 - Checking in on the 15s and 16s. Le Chiuse and Lisini. The 16 Le Chiuse is quite simply a monster. 4 hour decant, no sediment, amazing balance of acidity and tannin. WAY too young. I think my remaining bottles might see light again next decade… maybe.

September 1, 2023 - Wow, absolutely delicious, smooth tanins, licorice and dark cherry fruit. Aromas of leather and tobacco are picked up right away. One of my favorite Brunello’s

August 30, 2023 - Yes, I broke one of these out what would seem to be too early, but for my taste it is ready to go. 5 hour decant, 1 hour cool down back in the bottle, then tasted over 3 hours with 2 other wines with meats/cheese. It was best at the start and we felt it was fading a bit toward the end. I don't think it needs that much air, will decant shorter next time. I put the 2016 le Potazzine ahead of it, to my surprise.
