  June 6, 2023 - TOP SHELF WINE WEEKEND: As was before when I had this wine last year, the zippy and zesty citrus energy here is especially appealing. Yuzu, fresh lemon juice, lemon and lime zest, wet white rock, crushed white flowers, and yellow and green pear skin and flesh all spitfire their ways across the palate in youthful accord. There is a struck match reduction on the nose that also makes its way on to the palate. With air, the front end parades with limey, limey, limey, like the best wine version of a gimlet. The purity of fruit and complete clarity is off the charts with this bottle.
  
  Others thought this to be too young to open. I can’t disagree from an academic standpoint, but I personally have zero issues with opening this peppy puppy now. DIAM sealed, so there is actually a reason to hold off here and see what the next 5-7 years may bring this wine in terms of depth and complexity. However, it’s a wine that performs well even in its youth. 96-97 points.

  May 27, 2023 - Wild and Crazy Memorial Weekend - Saturday (Chris' Castle aka Melissa's Manor): OK....I love white Burgundy, but am too lazy and too old to learn about them. However, when someone else who knows about them pulls one out, I am more than willing to help drink it! Well, this was one of those cases! Chris (csimm1161) graciously retrieved one out of his cellar and pulled the cork! This was young and vibrant...I thought it was very good, but others may appreciate the focus and cut more than I...I prefer them with some age where the acidity calms down and the texture becomes more rich and full. I still thoroughly enjoyed this wine though as it showed plenty of citrus, melon and pear...the creaminess from the pear played of the acidity from the citrus quite nicely! Also notes of slate, with hints of chalk coming out with some swirling and coaxing. A very pleasant Chardonnay! I would have a difficult time staying away from this young, but knowing the potential to vastly improve, I would content myself with other Chards for the next few years! 95+ now, but loads of potential to gain a couple points down the road!

  May 27, 2023 - Memorial Day Weekend, Day 1: Inglourious Basterds: Aromas of lime skins, a note of a very recently put out flame on wood, and a squirt of citrus oil. With time, intense white flowers with deep honey notes emerge on the nose.
  
  Flavors of youthful dark yellow fruits like deep pear flesh but with a shot of citrus flavored adrenaline and freshness.
  
  The freshness and intense fruit this gives off is amazing. I'm curious how this will be with just a few years.

  June 10, 2022 - Bright and energized lemon and lime citrus, yuzu, white melon rind, travertine, and yellow pear notes make for a Grand Cru entrance that has class-worthy intensity and weight as well as an engaging giddy-up that lifts the flavors and electrifies the finish. Lime and green pear skin flavors bubble up with some coaxing in the glass.
  
  Sealed with DIAM, so it’s worth waiting a year or three to see what additional density and expansive layering are in store for this wine. However, I'll be anxious to enjoy even now. A nice balance of spunky and dimension.
  
  This is in similar style to the top 1er Crus from this address, but the Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet has an extra tick of breadth that steers it into its rightfully placed class. 95-96 points.

  May 14, 2022 - Served blind PNP. Was a real crowd pleaser. Very fresh, very aromatic, very complex. Most thought it was 09 or older. It's surprising how well it drinks young. I don't know what that means for aging potential as I've read these may be best young, but right now, it's fantastic.
