December 9, 2023 - Top 1ers for AK's birthday: Preferred this between the Mortet pair. Slightly funky, sauvage nose but in contrast the palate was so precise and mineral. Intense, dark red fruit with some iron notes. Texture was seamless and ethereal; truly an iron fist in a velvet glove. One of my favourites on the night.

August 4, 2023 - Expressive and perfumed nose for the first pour in the glass. Fresh and lively palate with hint of greenness - green jujube, sour plum pit, a bit flinty. Very high acidity with tension, overshadowing the fruit characters. Finish marked by lingering acidity, not much fruit …

May 28, 2021 - Wow, what a nose. Notes of cranberries, autumn leaves, cured meat, musk and sweet spices. Brings the best of elegant and fragrant Pinot from Burgundy. The palate is light with prominent acidity of 1996 but not sour or lean. Very popular at the table tonight with the Burg lovers.

July 20, 2019 - The vintage's acid overshadowed the fruit. In this particular flight against the 96 LSJ, the LSJ was clearly the much better wine. The difference was smaller in 98,01 and 02 flight.

    July 20, 2019 - Denis Mortet Dinner.

    1996 Lavaux and Champeaux (semi-blind)
Again, an obvious contrast of the Champeaux showing more elegance, weightlessness and the Lavaux had the power. Also, this pairing showed really well with balanced acidity and identifiable Gevrey character.
