March 2, 2024 - Some nice Burgundies (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Clearly back to French chardonnay here. No overt reduction or oak, but with a fairly fat and rich palate that I liked quite a bit. However, this didn't have quite the expected amount of complexity, especially for the vineyard (in hindsight of course). I didn't come close to thinking this was a Perrières -- something a little more modest, just because of that missing weight and depth. Ticks the boxes, but unfortunately not much else tonight.

October 22, 2023 - Finally caught a good Ballot Millot Perrieres after several disappointing tries; this one was really good if still on the young end; took a bit of air to get going, but eventually showed lovely orchard fruit, crushed rock, lemon oil, and a saline hint; the intensity on the palate is excellent with a huge and intense mineral and saline build that I really enjoyed. Again, this didn't really get going until the 3rd hour open. So decant if you can or keep cellaring. Natural cork with a wax seal and based on my prior experiences with 2010s I will drink these youngish.

October 23, 2022 - I must have a jinx when it comes to Ballot Millot; I've now had 4 bottles; all of the Perrieres and none of them has been good... two 2010s were premoxed, and now both a 2018 and 2019 have been corked. WTF. This was subtle, but after about an hour it became pretty obvious. Too bad because the underlying material seemed good.

August 3, 2022 - Very expressive even though not as exuberant as at the last tasting. Today's hot, higher air pressure, summer day is probably a factor. Great tension in the mouth. The tropical notes are there and they are kept in check by the saline and mineral background. The higher alcohol level is more noticeable today. Long finish.

April 29, 2022 - This was a bit too fat and almost sweet for me at the moment. Thick and oily, lots of pineapple, apricot, sauternes-like honey. Thankfully substantial acidity is present to help prevent this from being too over the top. Still this is missing that tension I love in great white Burgundy. Holding my remaining bottles for at least 5 more years.
