March 10, 2023 - One of the better young red burgundies I have ever enjoyed. On opening, this flagship from Lafarge is immediately noticed for its seriousness and firm, muscular build. Brooding and somewhat dark on day one, with powdery florals, day two opens to redder fruits like raspberry and pomegranate with allspice and sous bois. amply structured for the very long haul, I think folks holding this will be seriously pleased in 15-20 years.

January 8, 2023 - The best bottle of wine I’ve had in at least three years. Lafarge killed it in 2003, 2009 and 2015, so I had high hopes for 2019. And the lower stuff was very good, as was the Beaune Greves. But this is at another level altogether. It stinks of violets, the fruit is red and pure, and it’s insanely concentrated and long without any weight whatsoever. How do they achieve this texture and delicacy in ripe vintages without stems? The whole kitchen smells of raspberries and violets every time we pour a glass. Worth every penny, and these days, that’s saying something. CdC is my favorite Lafarge bottling, by a mile.
