January 29, 2024 - This wine presents a heavy funk on the palate with flavors of deep blackberry, black currant, 79% cacao dark chocolate, black licorice, and light pepper. It is very full bodied with balanced acid, tannins, and 14.2% ABV. The finish will last you a year!

August 5, 2023 - Opened for 3 hours. Color is deep ruby. On the nose: Sour funk, violets, iron/blood, pepper , blackberries, blackberry liquor and cassis. On the palate: Blackberries, iron/blood, violets, dark chocolate, cassis and plum. Dense but not jammy and great weight in the mouth. I would call this an exceptional wine. I bought a case a few years ago and this is my first try. I ration this guys wines. They are hard to find and exceptionally good. Some find them a bit to funky but while this Horsepower has the typical funk it seems more controlled / restrained.

February 10, 2023 - Best on Day 2, last glass. Bitter black tea and dark fruit. Cold climate syrah, but bigger. Might be great in 5-10 years. 91+??

January 15, 2023 - Wine of the year candidate - simply spectacular. Savory, smoky, rocky, with primarily red fruits and a hint of floral on the nose, all in a well-integrated and long-finishing package. Glad I have 2 more, but going to be a challenge to let them sit...

    March 18, 2022 - Day 1

Boysenberry, briar, smoke, purple flowers, blackberry, raspberry. Lots of fruit lol. At this stage, SQNesque. Very far from the wild, ethereal style that is reminiscent of N. Rhone syrah. It's way too young to enjoy IMO. The acid is there and wants to cut through the baby fat but it's just way to massive. Supple tannin. This needs to chill is the fridge from 2 more days. Interested to see where it goes. If I didn't have a few of these, I wouldn't have bothered opening it.

    Day 5

A lot less opulent, but nowhere near what 7+ years of bottle age does to these wines. To 2027 and beyond!!!
