February 6, 2011 - Color: Deep cherry color. Nose: A little restrained, needs some decanting time. Cherry, faint earthy/mushroom aromas. Taste: Black cherry flavors dominate, with some earthy/musty notes and pepper on the finish. Good concentration, long finish. Good for a few years in the cellar. Very nice.

December 4, 2009 - Consistent notes. A consistently superb QPR.

November 4, 2009 - Consistent notes, drank over 2 nights, both were delicious. At less than $11, this is perhaps my favorite table wine at the moment. Superb short-term drinking, not nearly as structured as the '04, but complex and finely balanced nonetheless. Plum, bright cherry, red flowers and soft leather on a medium-bodied frame with no hard-edges in sight. Bravo!

October 21, 2009 - Pop n pour consumed over two nights, both showing equally well. Smooth and well balanced, this is a fantastic everyday table wine, with round edges, a bit of depth to the fruit and lovely underlying acidity. Highly recommended for approx $14, 13,5% abv. Drink thru 2011.

October 16, 2009 - I thought that this was drinking really well. Silky smooth with a lot of cherries. Great QPR

Barbera Wine Tasting. An Uncerrated Wine from Italy, Episode #468, 5/19/2008 (link) 89 points

(Icardi Tabarin Barbera d'Asti) #1; COLOR-medium dark; NOSE-explosive; dark chocolate; little paprika; obvious sour cherries; black cherry soda; very nice for $11 bones; TASTE-this has a nice grip; nice firm tannins; it's got really explosive, rich & powerful length; very heavy on young blackberry flavor (still a hint of greenness & sour); a little of the bitter dark coffee bean; I'm very taken aback by the quality of this wine and it reminds me while I'll always go for a Barbera before a Chianti; very solid, very well made; very good; the bitterness from the tannins on the back-end might throw some people off; an excellent entry level Barbera; GV-89
