Community Tasting Notes 5

  • auldalliance Likes this wine:

    August 14, 2022 - Third of six.

Day one, simple raspberries on the nose, bit of 'edge' as acidity and a little tannin not quite together. Good with steak frites.
Day two (actually three days later) it was smoother, bit more depth to it and really very enjoyable. Quite a contrast as to how it kept compared to the Jaume Vinsobres a few days before.

No oak, deep crimson/purple, darker fruit more to the fore. Went well with a beef massayam dish.
I'm sure it will keep for a few years, but it's drinking very well night now.

July 11, 2022 - Crushed raspberries and blackberries with some tannin.

Opened up more on day 2; sweeter fruit, and softer tannin.

A little different from what I remember of this wine a few years back, though it's still very good.

June 4, 2022 - Maybe a little cool on opening, though I usually find that's not too bad for a Rhone red.

Seemed quite simple, fruit a bit one dimensional. Pleasing but lighter weight than some previous vintages from memory.

July 22, 2021 - Violets, juicy blackberry and black currant, sage, fine tannin, great QPR

  • Voodoo_Champagne Likes this wine:

May 23, 2021 - Another great red wine from Mas de Libian, a powerpiece, needs more time or 2 hours decant, a thrill to taste.
Most Grenache some Mourvedre and Syrah. Great Q/P.
