March 11, 2024 - Popped and poured. The 2018 “C. Corbett Family Vineyard, Hillside Blocks” pours a brilliant ruby color with a deep but transparent core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is youthful with notes of bright Morello cherry, cassis, tobacco, some light pyrazines, dried dusty earth, and soft baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes form the nose. The body is firm and lithe; more like a welterweight. Think Bud Crawford rather than Muhammed Ali. The finish is long and has some real bounce in the step! For me, this is not so much a Bordeaux wannabe as much as a classically-styled California Cabernet that reminds me of the way wines were produced 40+ years ago. Whatever Tynan is trying to do with this wine, I want more of. This is so easy to love. Drink now through 2043.

March 3, 2024 - Lovely purity to the nose with dark fruit, cassis, floral notes, and French oak.
Powerful but not in a structured/tannic sense. This is incredibly refined and seamless. The structure is just so dialed and the acidity is perfectly balanced.
This is a stunning wine that will last decades. It’s great now with some air (24hrs) and will be better in 5-10 years.3 people found this helpful Comment -

February 23, 2024 - Definitely a more old school style of wine being made in Napa. Ruby red, dusty tannins. Reminded me of a Di Costanzo, which is a compliment. I slow ox'ed this for about 3 hours and then poured into a decanter for the rest of the night. Well done!

December 24, 2023 - This wine was nearly perfect for me. Opened it Xmas Eve morning around 8 AM, poured out a little and replaced the cork to micro-ox until dinner. Re-opened it about 6 PM and poured it immediately. Gorgeous nose of black fruit, tannins had really softened. I got black cherry on top, mild earth/mineral undertones, but just a stunner, well-balanced and elegant.

December 3, 2023 - Very nice mountain fruit Cabernet from a vintage I don’t always love. Always dusty and dark, this has good depth of blue fruit and sweet currant. A little cocoa powder, but fairly priced and a more than sound bottle (I had been worried about high temperatures here when it was shipped).
