December 5, 2023 - A good GSM that is pretty light. Could be confused as a PN from NZ. Good QPR but not special.

July 1, 2023 - Aussie GSM value 2019 Torbreck (Cuvée) Juveniles, Barossa ($17 Costco). 72% Grenache; 23% Mataro; 5% Syrah. Mid-ruby, rim variation, viscous (15.0 alc.); ripe grape, black pepper, wood nose; mid+acids; medium-full tannins; long semi-hot berry and wood finish. BBQ and grill wine. 16-16.5 UC Davis scale, 90-91 other scales.

February 16, 2023 - Overall: balanced GSM that I would buy again; good value at Costco. The alcohol is probably a bit high so I would chill it down to at least “cellar temp” next time.

Appearance: somewhat translucent, on the purple side of ruby

Nose: Grenache dominated with strawberry, raspberry, but there is underlying smokey meatiness and pepper. The fruit almost smells candied and sweet, which might be partly due to the high (15%) alcohol. The alcohol does burn the nose a bit and makes me think drinking this a bit cooler would be good.

Palate: the alcohol makes its presence known; the sweeter red fruit profile comes through on the palate, although this is not a sweet wine. The tannins are balanced, but a little green and bitter. There is some salinity on the palate that carries into the finish.

Finish: medium, pleasant, drying, some salinity that makes me want to take another drink

August 25, 2022 - Clean and fresh, pepper, earthy

May 19, 2022 - Quite nice! Clearly dominated by the Grenache, but the Shiraz and Mourvèdre show up in the mouth and finish. Mildly tart, offset with rich fruit, warm flesh and a mild finish. Great value.
