April 19, 2024 - Really good, but nothing special. Loved it at the price I got it for.

February 18, 2024 - Tasted blind. Dark gold, honey and burnt caramel notes, plenty of acidity and medium sweetness, with slightly bitter orange peel. I felt it lacked a bit of freshness and stuffing, but it could be a phase.

    August 21, 2019 - 12% alcohol.

Quite deep burnished yellow color. Sweet yet surprisingly cool and fresh nose with aromas of overripe Granny Smith apple, developed creaminess, some caramel tones, a little bit of browned butter, light smoky tones, a hint of steely minerality and a touch of fresh nectarine. The wine is medium-bodied, intense and quite fresh on the palate with complex medium-sweet flavors of steely minerality, some ripe green apples, a little bit of stony minerality, light developed notes of browned bitter and a hint of peanut butter. The overall feel is quite crisp and even somewhat playful, thanks to the bright acidity. The finish is lively, bright and medium-dry with flavors of tangy salinity, some sharp green apple tones, a little bit of steely minerality, light caramel tones, a hint of Russian candy and a sappy touch of herbal spice.

A very fresh, poised and harmonious Chenin Blanc that feels remarkably light, delicate and playful despite its sweetness. One of the key contributors to the balance here is the bright, racy acidity that offsets so much of the sweetness and lends great, electric energy to the mouthfeel. Despite its age of 22 years, the wine is remarkably youthful and alive for its age and based on its rather slow evolution, I can imagine the wine will continue to develop for multiple decades more. Terrific stuff.

June 25, 2019 - Birthday bash tasting (Convivial - Washington, DC): Rich and plush with lots of candied fruits and marmalade, glazed peaches, honey, tropical nectar. But it also has some freshness and those cool, aged Chenin notes of tea, ginger and such.
