December 29, 2019 - Clear medium plum cherry fruit with a tinge of brick. High toned and showing some musty notes, cedar, wood, some light cherry and plum fruit. Not really showing any meaty, smokey notes that I would have expected. Medium bodied, crisp and lively with strong acidity, medium tannins, nice long finish, more red than black fruits, cherry and plum, not a huge amount of complexity. A little disappointing to be honest, just does not show enough character.

After a few days corked up this seemed to gain weight - showed a darker, tarry and iodine note on the nose, still did not improve a whole bunch on the palate.

October 12, 2019 - A bit muted. Supple, mid-weight and with soft raspberries on nose and palate. But lacking punch. I so wanted to like this, but just couldn't quite get there...

September 7, 2019 - Decanted at 12:30p and tasted from 4:30 - 10:30p. Nose was closed with some slight black fruits peeking out at 10:30p. Palate did show some nice red fruits and nice minerality. Shut down for business. Not sure if this will emerge by 2021 if folowing the Rule of 15 - perhaps the Rule of 20?

June 7, 2019 - Simply sensational! Juicy red fruit on the nose, mid-weight, supple and complex on the palate. A delight to drink.

(SORREL Hermitage) New Arrivals Dear Friends, It's fall and the season's new arrivals have begun to appear. All of the below just just arrived in the warehouse. I'm a little hesitant to put the Bernard Apremont in this offer as there are only 5 cases but... All three wines are EXTREMELY LIMITED: 2007 Domaines de Miquettes Coteaux des L'Ardeche Syrah (VdP) The Ardeche is all the rage among the Syrah coolio sect in France, from Dard et Ribo to the cult furry of Jungualamene, the best artisanal producers have found land in this once forgotten region just over the border from St. Joseph. The terroir is similar but the prices are not and it is still the wild west - an adventurous winemaker can work his/her magic without compromise and without ridicule. This biodynamic/organic bistro Syrah barely has any label (two back labels?) and barely any alcohol (11-12%) but its light-medium-bodied, tank-aged Northern Rhone presence is displayed without pretention or desire to impress anyone other than a group of friends sharing a picnic lunch on a Sunday afternoon hike through the hills. 20 cases for the entire US. 2008 RenÄ et BÄatrice Bernard Vin de Savoie Apremont "Vieilles Vignes" (this is not the Le Cellier du Palaise or the regular Apremont - this is their most limited wine from 80 yr old vines) These are the last five cases available - I had to pay $2 more but I doubt anyone will care. Like the Belluard from last night, this mountain white wine is a quintessential example of what makes Garagiste tick. Hopefully there will be a few bottles left for me. 2006 Domaine Marc Sorrel Hermitage From a great vintage, lots of you have asked for this but I can't ignore the fact that this wine finished dead last in my 2006 Hermitage tasting two weeks ago. Maybe it needs a number of years to shed the Sparky Marquis-masquerading-as-Hermitage persona but I doubt it. At least I was able to secure a great price. Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Rhone6634 Rhone6635 SOFR5812

(Marc Sorrel Hermitage) Medium red violet color; port-like, ripe berry, baked plum and VA nose; Cali style overripe berry, ripe plum palate , with depth, but says Napa Cab or Syrah more than Hermitage; long finish
