Community Tasting Notes 13

January 25, 2023 - Pale gold, lightly viscous. Notes of lemon zest and hay on the nose; very soft aromas. First taste was a Green Apple Jolly Rancher bomb, with an acidic squeeze and a snap finish. Mellowed on further tasting and glass time. Became more balance over time, but there’s very little depth or complexity. Not bad for a weeknight stir-fry wine.

July 12, 2022 - A Sauvignon Blanc for people that do not typically like Sauvignon blanc. Fruity and tastes slightly sweet while also having a somewhat buttery or oaky quality I'd be more likely to associate with a Chardonnay. No cat pee odor typical of the variety. I normally stick to reds, but I enjoyed this white.

April 26, 2022 - Moderate nose of sliced apple, citrus, pineapple, and hints of forest flowers. Well balanced fruit finishing long with bright acidity tempered by stony minerality. Bolder than a Sancerre, more akin to a Marlborough. Delightful. Incredible value.

April 8, 2022 - This was enjoyable enough for the low price, some soft nectarine and grapefruit with a pinch of tart acidity that does the job. However, for the same price or a couple bucks higher, I think there's a ton of New Zealand Sauv Blanc that does much more for me (more intensity, vibrancy, complexity, etc.) There was a suggestion of sweetness here that didn't work super well for my palate either. Just plenty of more exciting white wine in general for ~$12, although I guess there's plenty worse too. If the theme is cheap WA white, I slightly preferred the L'Ecole Semillon, and much preferred the Kung Fu Girl Riesling (Charles Smith.)
