February 18, 2024 - Decanted for a few hours and followed over 2 nights, this was better on day two. Nice melding of dark fruits, smoky oak, good tannic spine and reasonable alcohol. It is a lovely wine that will benefit from 10+ years in the cellar. Very good QPR for BDX of this quality (if you can get it in the mid-$30 range).

February 18, 2024 - Nose: Very perfumed and jumps out of the glass, dark black cherries, black currants, sweet and gritty soil, mild green astringency. Palate: Tart blackberries, chalk and gravel framed against a nicely oaked backdrop, bitter any chalky tannins, mouthwatering acidity. A very harmonious and well-balanced young Bordeaux. With time in the glass, cedar makes it presence known. On day two, everything melds together nicely and is more integrated, but the fruit becomes less plush and fades behind the cedar and grit.

January 30, 2024 - Comprised of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc, the 2020 version of Larrivet-Haut-Brion is a worthy successor to its terrific 2019 sibling. Opaque crimson in color, it is aromatically effusive of black currants, dark bramble fruits, blueberries, licorice, tobacco leaf and mulling spices. Medium-to-full-bodied, seamlessly alcoholic (13.5%), proportionately oaked and with lively acids, it delivers comparable flavors that are buttressed with abundant silky-textured tannins. Impressively dense on the mid-palate and equally impressive on the finish, this is a beautiful, structured Pessac that will provide pleasure for many years to come. Whoever says that there is no value in Bordeaux has not tasted this wine! Vinturi-decanted and sampled over the ensuing three hours, this showed best after the first 90 minutes in carafe. Enclosed with a Diam 30 cork. Drink now-2045.

January 27, 2024 - One of the most gorgeous wines you will ever drink for 36 bucks! After about an hour and a half it hits a groove that is awesome! Darker fruit profile. Balance is perfect. But for me the nose is the ticket. Glorious, with a massive blast of charred mineral earthiness that is beguiling. I'm sure this will only improve with some age, but for now it drinks plenty good. I will give it my best shot to save a few for the long haul.
