January 16, 2024 - I thought this was rather lovely, as it happens. I was fearing a brulee bomb a la 2003, but no. There was a hint of smokiness, but the fruit was cool with a soft acidity and there was that classic N. Rhone wildness about it, with bacon and olives as per the manual. Gentle drinking with little to object to. A bit of "the wine next door" about it. Most pleasing....
There's no sense that it's on its last legs, but it's not going to get better. Drink up at leisure.

October 15, 2019 - My impessions are consistent with my previous note, in spite of the passage of 11 years. On first opening, it's Côte-Rôtie on steroids. It takes, and in my view requires, lots of air. On day 2 it has softened and mellowed, and become a better balanced and delicious wine. Not a classic for me, but nevertheless excellent. I think this has plenty of years in it. dg

May 18, 2016 - Dinner with civilians (67 Pall Mall, London): Sharp, edgy and absolutely compelling, very smoky, grippy, wild and exciting

April 1, 2015 - Smoke, bacon, coffee, on the palate, dense but soft, fresh and red fruited, a beautiful gentle mouthful

August 24, 2013 - Also from the TWS mixed case. Deep garnet core, medium pale garnet rim. Aromatic nose, black fruited with floral notes, perhaps a hint of bacon fat. Medium bodied and quite polished on the palate with soft tannins, sweet blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, floral notes, touch of bloody meat, nice balancing acidity and a good length, slightly smoky, sweet black fruit pastille finish. Excellent, drinking well but no particular hurry.
